A two-vehicle collision Thursday afternoon on Dartmouth Road in Barton County resulted in two Great Bend residents being ejected from a van. They were transported to the Ellinwood Hospital & Clinic and a short time later were flown by helicopter to another hospital. The driver of the second vehicle had minor injuries.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded and released the following information.
The vehicles were a 2015 Ford van driven by Ryan Dayton, 48, of Great Bend, and a 2014 GMC Sierra driven by Cole Giese, 20, of Stacy, Minn. Michael Siebert, 40, of Great Bend, was a passenger in the van. None of the individuals were wearing seat belts.
Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of SE 20 Road and SE 60 Ave. (Dartmouth Road) at 3:41 p.m. on Nov. 13 and arrived to find both vehicles in the southeast corner ditch. Two subjects were ejected from one of the vehicles and transported to the hospital, and later flown out by EagleMed with “very critical injuries.” The other driver was cleared from the scene with minor injuries.
The Kansas Highway Patrol assisted at the accident scene.
