Pair of second half goals propel Barton women to win over Highland

The stat sheet shows domination. The scoreboard, well,  not so much.

But it was a win for the Barton women’s soccer team Tuesday afternoon on the road.

Barton traveled to Highland and left with a 2-0 win over the Scotties in a non-league battle. Highland plays DII soccer in the Jayhawk.

The Cougars are now 4-1 while Highland is 2-2.

Barton dominated the match, getting off nearly 30 shots to just six for Highland. Barton put nearly half of those on goal but didn’t score until the second half.

The team went to intermission tied at zero. It didn’t take long for the Cougars to break that tie as Seulgi Lee scored just 3:34 into the second half to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

As it turned out that would be Barton would need as the Scotties never got a shot on goal the entire contest.

Barton did get some insurance as Alisia Solis made it 2-0 with 12:30 remaining in the contest for the final 2-0 margin. It was the sophomore from South Korea’s fifth goal of the season.

The Cougars will be back in action Saturday when Neosho County pays a visit for a 1 pm kickoff.

Barton is currently 1-1 in the Jayhawk while Neosho is winless at 0-3.
