The Barton County Conservation District is now accepting applications for the Fiscal Year 2027 state cost share programs. Applications received now through April 30, will be eligible for Group 1 ranking, with contracts to be issued beginning July 1. Additional groups will be added as funds are available.
Practices available for cost share include but are not limited to terraces, grassed waterways, critical area planting, nutrient management, cover crops, pasture range management practices, brush clearing, plugging of abandoned water wells, and replacement of failed septic systems.
This is an excellent opportunity to receive assistance in completing some needed conservation practices. Funding is provided by the State Conservation Commission through appropriation from the Kansas Water Plan Fund for the Water Resources and Non-Point Source Pollution Programs. Technical assistance is provided through the conservation district and the Natural Resource Conservation Service.
Applications for the program are available at the Barton County Conservation District office located at 10th and S. Patton Road in the USDA building, or request email service. Call 620-792-3002 ext. 4672 for more information.
