Azria Health Woodhaven, located at 1560 NW K-96, hosted this week’s Great Bend Chamber of Commerce Coffee. This retirement and assisted-living facility specializes in post-acute rehabilitation, long-term care and skilled nursing services.
Administrator Maddie McDonald said they recently added three independent living apartments, which are filled. They have a waiting list for that service.
Director of Nursing Candice Horner, RN, MSN, said Azria Health Woodhaven has 120 employees.
The Great Bend facility is licensed for 85 residents. They accept private and commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid.

- The Family Crisis Center continues to recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month. Saturday, April 11, starts with a 5K at Brit Spaugh Park at 7 a.m. (6:30 a.m. check-in), and fun at the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are also doing Music Bingo: Rock Against Rape at Rhythm and Brews on April 14 and 28 from 7:30-9 p.m. April 29 is Denim Day; employers are asked to allow their employees to dress down in jeans. Then Queen Bee Nutrition in Great Bend and Harvest Nutrition in Larned and Pratt are offering specialty teas for the FCC this month.
- Roz Neeland from Pilot Club said the next Autism Awareness Workshop will be Sept. 12 with keynote speaker Amy Nelson.
- The spring catalogs are out at the Great Bend Public Library. The library book sale concludes Saturday, April 11. They are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Hardback books are $1 and everything else, including paperback books, DVDs, cake pans, audio books and puzzles, is 50 cents. The library will also have a Seed Swap from 10 a.m. to noon on April 18. Pick up free seeds or bring some to share.
- Eagle Media will have its online auction April 15-16. Contact the radio station if your business would like to participate.
- Next Thursday, April 16, is the Chamber After Hours at Nex-Tech Wireless, from 5-7 p.m. They have a beer specially brewed for their 20th anniversary.

- Fridays on Forest returns on April 24. This is sponsored by Great Bend Alive, which will have a planning meeting on April 16 from 5-6 p.m. at Dry Lake Brewing. It is open to anyone interested in participating. They will be printing T-shirts soon; sponsors are still being accepted and their logos will be on the shirts. They are also seeking sponsors for the Big Bend Bash.
- The next Great Bend Chamber Coffee will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at Wheatland Electric, 200 10th St., with a program at 9:30. That will be followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Chamber Office, 1125 Williams St., for Cleaning by Jess.
