With the grand opening Thursday of C.C. and Mark Radenberg’s new Happy Girl Flower Shop at 2102 Kansas Ave. in Great Bend, someone commented that C.C. now has a chain, with the initial Happy Girl Flower Shop still operating in Claflin.

“I’m a chain!” Radenberg said.

Radenberg and staff are well-versed in designing flower arrangements for large or small events at this full-service flower shop. Anne Beck now manages the shop at 109 A St. in Claflin and Jaci Guthrie is a full-time employee at the Great Bend shop.

Starting in August, they will offer Flower Bar Fridays, a customer loyalty program that allows people to create their own bouquets. They can also bring flower bars to events. They also have a Sunshine Club, a three- or six-month or 12-month subscription that supplies a special person with a seasonal flower arrangement each month. It includes a special card and arrangement for the recipient’s birthday. The cost includes delivery to Great Bend, Claflin, Hoisington or Ellinwood.

There are also regular giveaways on Facebook.

Past customers who attended Thursday’s grand opening and Great Bend Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting praised C.C.’s work, saying she is passionate about what she does and goes above and beyond for her customers. C.C. said she takes time to get to know something about who an arrangement is for, adding a personal touch, whether it’s for a wedding or a celebration of life.

“If you want to know why I am so happy, it is because I am so full of the joy of the Lord,” she said.

Her store is one of 10 Ignite Rural Great Bend finalists.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays in Great Bend. In Claflin, hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 2-5 p.m. on Fridays, when the flower bar is open.
