Getting the most out of your fertilizer dollar in these tough economic times with commodity prices as low as they are, will be the focus of K-State Extension agents in the region hosting several programs to address this issue, says Stacy Campbell, Crop Production Agent with the Cottonwood Extension District.

On Thursday, Jan. 29th with registration beginning at 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A soil fertility with tight crop budgets program will be held at the Barton County 4-H Building, U.S. N. Highway 281 at the intersection of NW 60th Road, Great Bend.

This program has been designed to help producers understand how to get the most out of their fertilizer dollar, while making zero to minimal impact on yields.

The meeting schedule is listed:

Jan. 28 – 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Colby – Thomas Co. 4-H Building

Jan. 29 – 3 to 6 p.m. – Kensington – First St. John Lutheran Church

Jan. 29 – 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Great Bend –  Barton Co. 4-H Building

The schools will be presented by Dr. Lucas Haag, Agronomist-in-Charge at Tribune and Dr. Peter Tomlinson, KSU Fertility specialist along with local District Extension Agents. Topics will include KSU research updates, Soil sampling, Fertilizing with tight budgets, Premixes and Standard forms, Targeted nutrients and a question and answer session. So be sure and bring all your questions with you! 2.5 CCA credits have been applied for.

There is no cost for the schools, however, pre-registration is requested by Friday, Jan. 23 for all schools either online https://bit.ly/4jEiELo or by calling the host county extension office.
