Ashley Fugitt and Jason Eades receive gifts in observance of American Massage Therapy Week. Both therapists care for clients at Renue Salon, Spa and Fashion Boutique in Great Bend.

The two certified massage therapists at Renue Salon, Spa & Fashion Boutique may be the answer for anyone seeking increased mobility and flexibility, or just a little relaxation.

Jason Eades and Ashley Fugitt were recognized during American Massage Therapy Week, Oct. 24-30, for their care and treatment of Renue clients.

“There are a number of benefits to massage,” Eades said. “These include improving circulation and lymph movement, and enhanced flexibility. Clients also come in with anxiety or migraines.

“In addition, some make appointments pre- and post-surgery when they realize they might be in bed for a few days. They want to be loose before and after.”

Both Renue therapists offer deep-tissue and hot-stone massages. The deep-tissue version focuses on realigning the deepest muscle layers and connective tissue to remove muscle knots. It can be used for aches and pains in the neck, upper and lower back, legs and shoulders.

Hot-stone massages involve specific placement of smooth, water-heated stones on the body. The therapist also may use the stones as tools to massage tight muscles.

Sometimes stretching is incorporated into a massage to increase mobility and reduce stiffness.

Fugitt also provides Swedish massage, which is a gentle and relaxing treatment with general strokes and specific strokes for a problem area.

“Sometimes you just want a little relaxation and stress relief,” she commented. “And other times clients indicate they are playing a certain sport and want to be better prepared.”

The therapists noted that clients can remain clothed if they choose. “We want you to be comfortable,” Fugitt said. “We respect your personal boundaries. Some want to talk during a massage and others simply want to enjoy the peace and quiet.”

Fugitt is credentialed by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. She is a 2004 graduate of Heritage College in Kansas City Mo., with an associate’s degree in massage therapy; she has served Renue clients for 10 years.

“This is a beautiful facility throughout each department,” Fugitt commented. “The staff here is great and we really are a family.”

Eades, who has been at Renue for one year, is certified by Fort Hays State University and is working toward his national certification. Prior to becoming a massage therapist, he was a certified nurse’s aide for 26 years in healthcare facilities and long-term-care residences, caring for people of all ages.

Fugitt and Eades offer 30-, 60- and 90-minute sessions.

Renue, 1419 Main, offers all hair-care treatments; face creams; lotions; facials, waxing and other skin-care treatments; manicures and pedicures; nail polishes; body wraps; hot-stone and deep-tissue massages; two tanning beds; infrared sauna; and event room.
