New COVID-19 case rates range from low to high

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment on Wednesday released its latest data on COVID-19 cases. As of 9 a.m. on Feb. 22, there were 1,975 new cases and five new deaths reported since Wednesday, Feb. 15. There have been 10,034 deaths statewide reported over the course of the pandemic.

Here are the new case numbers for area counties from Feb. 11-17, followed by the number per 100,000 people:

• Barton 6 (moderate incidence rate; 23.3 per 100,000)

• Edwards 2 (substantial incidence rate; 75.1)

• Ellsworth 3 (moderate; 49.2)

• Ness 5 (high incidence rate; 181.8)

• Pawnee 6 (substantial; 93.5)

• Rice 5 (substantial; 52.4)

• Rush 0

• Russell 1 (moderate; 14.6)

• Stafford 7 (high; 168.4)
