Stafford USD 349 listed as COVID cluster for fifth consecutive week

Stafford USD 349 is still listed as a COVID-19 exposure location this week, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports.

Every Wednesday, KDHE releases a cluster report and publishes the names of locations that have five or more COVID-19 cases with symptom onset in the last 14 days. Stafford USD 349 has been listed for five consecutive weeks and there have been five cases in the last 14 days. The last date of symptom onset was Nov. 30.

A long-term care facility in central Kansas, Ness County Hospital LTC ISB Cedar Village in Ness City, was listed with 10 cases; the last onset date was Dec. 1.

Over the course of the pandemic, Kansas has had 482,232 COVID-19 cases, resulting in 16,087 hospitalizations and 6,768 statewide deaths as of 9 a.m. Wednesday. There were 4,443 new cases, 116 new hospitalizations and 25 new deaths reported since Monday, Dec. 6. This includes two deaths in Barton County and one in Pawnee County.

Hospitalizations 

• As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Barton County has reported 154 hospitalizations attributed to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, an increase of two since Monday. The number of intensive care unit (ICU) admissions to date remained unchanged at 30; 105 discharged patients have been reported to KDHE to date, an increase of one since Monday. The median age of patients admitted so far in December is 52.

• Pawnee County has reported 69 hospital admissions, 15 ICU admissions and 47 discharged patients to date. These numbers have not changed since Nov. 29.

• Stafford County has reported 29 hospital admissions, 11 ICU admissions and 19 discharged patients to date. These numbers have not changed since Monday.


Great Bend USD 428

Great Bend USD 428 started the week with 19 active positive cases of COVID-19.
