The Ellinwood School/Community Library will host a Chamber After Hours program featuring historical educator Rick Reed to introduce the Americans and the Holocaust exhibit, at 5 p.m. on Dec. 4, at the Ellinwood High School Commons Area, followed by guided tours of the exhibition.
This event will engage local business and community leaders by providing historical context, highlighting the national significance of the exhibit and offering an opportunity to experience it firsthand.
The program is designed to foster meaningful dialogue and broaden awareness of how this exhibit connects history with contemporary issues. Everyone is invited to attend.
Rick Reed is a lifelong educator and leader dedicated to equipping parents, teachers and students with the tools to succeed through engaging, brain compatible instruction. Currently serving as director of Future Hopes and Dreams at Teen Town Inc., Reed’s 40-year career includes teaching and leadership roles in McPherson, Minneapolis and Quivira Heights schools, as well as college-level instruction through Barton and Cloud County community colleges. A James Madison Memorial Fellow, Dole Institute Teacher Scholar, and Kansas Teacher of the Year nominee, Reed has presented at state, national and international conferences, including the International Learning Expo in Xi’an, China. With a Master’s in Teaching from Emporia State University and a Special Education Endorsement, he continues to inspire others to teach and lead with innovation, compassion, and purpose.

Concordia Camp Parallel Exhibition
World War II German POW Camp Concordia curated companion display will run alongside the main exhibit, featuring regional history, artifacts and stories that connect Kansas to World War II and the Holocaust. This offers a meaningful local lens to global events.
