Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! If you need a blind date for Valentine’s Day, the library’s got you covered. Grab a mystery book to see if it’s a match made in heaven. Even if you do have a sweetheart this February, why not grab a book for each of you and have your own mini book club date? It will give you plenty to talk about, and you might find out something unexpected about each other! After all, the couple who reads together, stays together.

This Thursday, Feb. 6, in addition to our regular Genealogy Thursday at 11 a.m. and Read to Luna at 3:30 p.m., we bring you Delicious Dishes with Lisa at 6 p.m. Come learn how to make hot drinks from around the world to chase away the winter chill and warm your heart just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Story times are back on Tuesday, with Baby Bounce from 9:30-10 a.m., followed by Early Literacy Story Time from 10:30-11 a.m. If you need help with your smart device, stop by the Information desk between 11 a.m. and noon to get your questions answered during Tech Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Tween Scene will be back from 3:30-5 p.m. to give tweens grades 3-5 a preview of the Teen Spot and its events. Also starting at 3:30 p.m. we have a new interactive movie event, “We Lost Our Human.” Join us on an epic adventure to help Pud the cat and Ham the dog reunite with their human. Can this dynamic duo work together for the greater good, or will their differences be too much to overcome? You will make the decisions that have a direct influence on their life-changing journey!

Next Thursday, Feb. 13, we have our regular Genealogy Thursday and, of course, the fabulous Luna, as well as Golden Girls Trivia at Dry Lake Brewing, 1305 Main, for Galentine’s Day. Registration is currently open on our website. You can also come by the brewery at 6:30 p.m. on the day of to register in person. We will be playing on Kahoot, a trivia-hosting platform that allows us to create trivia that participants can play on their phones. The great thing about Kahoot is that it keeps track of all the scores for us and keeps things moving. Teams are now also judged on the accuracy of their answers as well as how quickly they are submitted. If you know the correct answer right away, you can get a leg up on the competition! We tried out Kahoot for the first time at our last trivia in January, and the competing quizzers enjoyed it, so we are excited to feature it again in what is bound to be our most popular trivia yet. Spots are limited to 25 teams, so make sure to register now to guarantee your spot. Rumor has it that, if enough people sign up ahead of time, a certain Dry Lake Brewing owner will be “dressing up” for the occasion.
