Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Starting off today, March 13, we have our usual Genealogy Thursday at 11 a.m. and Read to Luna at 3:30 p.m. Along with our standard Thursday events, it’s time for another Adult Craft Night, this time in collaboration with Ladies’ Night Out. Join us at 6 p.m. this evening (March 13) to try out Diamond Painting. If you have always wanted to try this sparkling trend but didn’t want to buy a whole kit or commit to a huge project, this is the perfect chance to see what all the fuss is about. Crafters can select from a wide variety of beautiful succulent keychains to bedazzle. Please note that the east doors to the library will be open until 6:15 p.m. to allow for entry to the event.
Next week is Spring Break, and we have something going on to keep those staying home entertained Monday through Friday. On Monday we have our Cabin Retreat Craft. Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., stop by and get creative while you build your best cabin out of craft sticks and miscellaneous supplies. This competition will be fierce, but the top three winners will get some cool prizes.
Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. get ready for a special Cabin Retreat Story Time with Miss Jessica. Tech Tuesday will be at its usual time, 11 a.m., followed by Open Book Club at 7 that evening. This time we will discuss the book “Babel” by R. F. Kuang. If you haven’t read it yet and want to join in on the discussion, you can check out a copy at the front desk.
Wednesday we have a really big event coming: Grocery Store Bingo! What vacation is complete without some tasty food? Starting at 10:30 a.m. we’ll be giving away food as prizes, and everyone will go home with something, so come prepared to win!
Thursday is a full day starting with Genealogy Corner at 11 a.m., followed by Reading to Luna at 3:30 p.m. During Spring Break, readers can earn double the points for each minute read to Luna. Lastly, starting at 5:30 p.m. we have our next Teen Manga & Anime Club meeting. For our March meeting we are watching and discussing “Medalist” by Tsurumaikada. Afterwards, we will make cherry blossom paintings to celebrate spring.
To close out our week we have two events on Friday, March 21, starting with our Cabin Retreat Scavenger Hunt. All day long look for lakeside activities around the library you might find on a woodsy cabin retreat. Find them all and you might just get a treat. Then at 3:45 that afternoon, teens can join us for our latest Teen Café. Miss Haylee will teach you how to make some slime that’s delicious enough to eat using marshmallows and some common kitchen ingredients.
