Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! This Thursday, April 24, we have our regular Genealogy Thursday at 11 a.m., and the fabulous Luna at 3:30 p.m.
On Friday, we have our next Tabletop Teens D&D Adventure at 3:45 p.m. Although you would be jumping at the end of the campaign, we do still have a spot or two open if you’re interested in playing, and of course, you’re welcome to just come and watch the season finale unfold as an audience member.
Monday, we have Monday Crafternoons for kiddos ages 6-12. This time to celebrate our recent butterfly release, we will be doing a cardboard roll butterfly craft.
Tuesday, in lieu of story time, we have a very special event: it’s our Second Annual Toddler Prom! This year’s theme is Bluey, everyone’s favorite Australian talking dog. We will have food, dancing, a photo op with a pro photographer, games, toys for our toddlers to play with, and of course, music to dance the morning away. Rumor has it, Miss. Bluey herself is going to be there. Our toddler prom will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m., so dress up your little one in their finest for a morning to remember.
On Wednesday, Tween Scene will be back from 3:30-5 p.m. with a special activity. We will be tie-dyeing bandanas! This event is intended for grades 3-5 to get a taste of the Teen Spot and some of our teen programming with peers their own age who are also a bit too old for story time but not teens just yet either.
Next Thursday is the first of May, and that means it’s time for another one of Lisa’s Delicious Dishes Classes. Stop by to see what she is going to dish up this time, starting at 6 p.m. But before that, join us for a very special party for our favorite furry girl, Luna. For those of you who don’t know Luna, she is a wonderful reading therapy dog who has been helping children gain confidence in their reading for many years at the Great Bend Public Library. We have been truly so fortunate to have her and her handler, Glenn, be a part of the library for many years, but unfortunately, Luna is getting up in years and is looking to retire to spend the rest of her years lying in sun spots and chasing butterflies on her farm. To honor Luna and all the wonderful work she has done for the library, we are throwing her an Ice Cream Social/Retirement Party on Thursday, May 1st at 3:30 p.m. We will have ice cream for everyone to enjoy, including Luna, and this will also be a time to give Luna some extra pets for being such a good girl all these years, and maybe read her one last story.
