The Rush County Community Choir’s Christmas cantata has been rescheduled for Sunday, Jan. 11, at two times and locations.
The choir will perform “The Ballad of Bethlehem” by Pepper Choplin at 2 p.m. at the La Crosse United Methodist Church in La Crosse and at 4:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 1243 CR 400 in rural Albert. Refreshments will be served.
Choir member Carolyn Renz said the December performances hit several snags that prompted the new date.
Originally, the cantata was under the direction of Mark DeWald, the former Great Bend High School band director who passed away on Nov. 19 following a fatal collision on K-96 near NW 30 Ave. in Barton County. He was 72 years old. The choir still planned to perform in December but was then sidelined by illness.
The Jan. 11 cantata is directed by Sally Jacobs and dedicated to DeWald.
