Happy Thursday from the Great Bend Public Library! As the holiday season grows closer we have a few fewer events this week but we do have a few very exciting events, like Santa story time coming up this Monday. But before I get to that we have a few events on Dec. 12 to look forward to starting with Genealogy Thursday at 11 a.m. Then at 6 p.m. join us for our latest Adult Craft Night where we will be making Sugar Scrub.
Monday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. we have a very special story time with an appearance from Santa himself! Join Santa at the library to sing Christmas Carols, eat some tasty treats, and hear a story from Santa! Plus Santa will have a special green friend in tow this year! Also happening on Monday is the beginning of our winter reading challenge. Keep the cold weather blues away with our Winter Reading Bingo! Pick up your sheet starting then complete the cozy objectives to get a bingo and turn in your sheet by January 11 to enter into a prize drawing. There will be prizes for children, teens, and adults.
On Tuesday don’t forget about Tech Tuesday at 11 a.m., as well as our Open Book Club at 7 p.m. Since this is our last meeting of the year we like to do a little potluck and book exchange. If you would like bring a dish to share and a novel to exchange. This is not required for attendance at the meeting but the more snacks the merrier right? Then next Thursday, the Manga and Anime Club meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Since we are meeting right before the holiday break we will have a laid back meeting enjoying the movie and some delicious popcorn.
Lastly, I wanted to quickly remind everyone of our Library Giving Tree. If you would like to be a library angel and help us out this holiday season please check out the tree across from the circulation desk. There you will find ornaments with items we need or would like for the library, everything from craft supplies to office supplies. We have also set up a Venmo account for those who would like to make a monetary donation instead (cash and check are always welcome too), so we can go pick out the supplies ourselves. Thank you to our library angels for the lovely gifts we have already received, the supplies donated are much appreciated and are helping us better serve our community.
