Sixty band students from 11 Kansas high schools gathered Thursday, Jan. 9 for Sterling College’s first Honor Band Day. Band Director Larry Brownlee organized the day which included 4.5 hours of rehearsal for a 30-minute concert at the end of the day. Students from Ellinwood, Ellsworth, Hillsboro, Hugoton, La Crosse, Lyons, Otis-Bison, Pretty Prairie, Sacred Heart, Central Christian, and Sterling High Schools attended the day. Brownlee said, “Although there were several students who could not attend due to the weather, everyone worked hard and had a great day. The concert was livestreamed on the Sterling College Music Facebook page where it will still be available for the next month.”
