Student Library Assistant Madison Dombroski focuses on Ellinwood High School seniors throughout the year to spotlight, and this will be featured in our Check It Out column. Today we have two Senior Spotlights: Dawson Sunderland and Austin Brack.
Dawson Sunderland is a senior at EHS. His family members are his mother, Angie Schwarts-Fox, stepdad Travis Fox, and sister Shelbee Miller. The book he would recommend is “Kid Owner” by Tim Green. He believes this is a good book and it shows that you can do anything you set your mind to.
Dawson’s favorite quote is “If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it – then I can achieve it,” said by Muhammad Ali. A cause he is passionate about is the military because they go out and risk their lives to protect yours. Dawson says his favorite class is rec sports since he can go and play games with some of his friends.
His advice for incoming students is don’t overthink sports or homework too much. Also to make sure you get your work turned in and don’t fall behind. We wish Dawson a great year in his senior chapter!
Austin Brack is a senior at EHS. His family members are his mom, Amanda Brack and stepdad Jared Schartz, father Landon Brack, and brothers are Alex and Brody. The book he would recommend is “The Hunger Games.” He chose this because it was the first series of books that made him never want to stop reading it, plus he said it has a great story line.
Austin’s favorite quote is “Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t,” by Rikki Rodgers. His favorite class is sports medicine because he learns about things that will benefit him in his degree.
Austin’s advice for incoming students is to try new things while you are in high school because you are not in high school forever. His plan after graduation is to go to Fort Hays State and get a degree in nursing to be a traveling nurse then go back to become a Nurse Anesthetist. We wish Austin a great year in his senior chapter!
