Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library!

Today we have our regular Genealogy Thursday at 11 a.m., followed by  this month’s Teen Manga & Anime Club at 5:30 p.m. For August’s club meeting, we’ll be eating popcorn and watching a mini marathon of “Sk8 the Infinity,” a show following Reki and Langa, two high schoolers who end up in the world of hardcore skateboarding alongside a cast of colorful characters.

For teens who still have Library Loot left to spend after the prize auction a couple weeks ago, the post-auction store opens to all teens on Friday, August 22. It will be open until September 27.

Next week is pretty quiet at the library aside from our usual Tech Tuesday and Genealogy Thursday, both at 11 a.m. on their respective weekdays, but there are a couple of youth events with open registration at this time.

Tweens and teens grades 3-12 can join the Crafty Crochet Club and learn the basics from an experienced fiber artist. No experience is necessary. During the introductory lesson on Wednesday, September 3, we will learn the basics of crochet and get started on September’s kit, featuring a delightful little frog. After the first meeting, we invite you to come back the same time each week to finish your project. Staff will be available to help. Spots are filling up fast, so head on over to greatbendpl.info to sign up today! If registration is full, we will put you on the waitlist.

Looking for a short Tabletop Teens campaign to join this semester? Players 6-12 can try out our new miniseries this fall on select Fridays from 4-7:15 p.m. Enter the Nexus, an extradimensional warzone where fantasy and sci-fi collide! Six spacefaring adventurers will have to work together to keep the Nexus from spiraling into chaos and being overrun by ... space jellyfish? Visit greatbendpl.info/teens for more details and to sign up for this miniseries. Those who don’t get a spot as a player will be put on the waitlist. Any teens are welcome to come watch as part of the audience (no registration required)!
