BCC addresses roofing bids

The Barton Community College Board of Trustees announced a special meeting for 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, to approve a bid for roof repairs and maintenance. The meeting took place after the Great Bend Tribune went to press. However, there was only one bid. It was from Washington Roofing for $365,997.

This quote was presented to the trustees at the Oct. 14 study session with plans to approve it later that month. Washington Roofing, located in Great Bend, was listed as the sole vendor that could supply the Gaco S42 coating, a Spray Polyurethane Foam. However, Vice President of Administration Mark Dean was instructed to attempt to find more bidders, so the contract was not on the Oct. 28 agenda.

A special meeting was needed this week so that the work can be done in a timely fashion. The temperature must be at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit to apply the spray coating and some of the work can be done before the spring.

Detailed specifications and requirements were sent to D.V. Douglas Roof, High Plains Roofing, M&N Watertite Roofing, R&R Roofing and RoofMasters Roofing, as well as Washington Roofing. No other vendor submitted a bid. The bid from Washington Roofing did not change.
