Barton County Community College filled an open position on Tuesday when the Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Narren Brown as director of Institutional Effectiveness. The contract position was last held by Todd Mobray.

Two position changes within the college were also approved Tuesday. Stephanie Joiner will become Dean of Academics effective July 1 and Brian Howe will become a STEM instructor and coordinator for the 2025-2026 year with a faculty contract.

Faculty contracts were also renewed Tuesday, with six faculty gaining tenure. They are: Alejandro Avila, Sayde Fitzgerald, Heidi McKennon, Jamie Minneman, Brandon Steinert and Jacob Streit. They joined 34 other faculty members who have tenure. Contracts were also renewed for 20 faculty who are on the tenure track.

Six contracts were not renewed for 2025-2026, including one that had been designated as “tenure eligible” at the April board study session. Daniel Williams, director of theatre activities, was among the non-renewed. The explanation for his departure was listed as “financial exigency.”

Contracts for English instructor Jaime Abel and welding instructor Allan Collins were not renewed due to their retirements. Nursing instructor Kendra Hagerman and OSHA instructor Lawrence Weber resigned. Jacob Wilson’s non-renewal as a contracted nursing instructor was due to a position change. He will become an adjunct (part-time) instructor for nursing.
