The Barton County Association of Churches’ Lenten Luncheon series continues on Wednesday, March 11, at Central Baptist Church, 3301 Lakin Ave., with St. Mark Lutheran Church cohosting. A light lunch will be served at noon, followed by a brief devotional. This week’s message will be delivered by Pastor Tim Singleton.
Freewill offerings will be accepted with proceeds going to help the needy in our community.
The schedule of upcoming lunches is March 18, First Christian Church, with Pastor Keith Funk, speaker; March 25, Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Micah Powell, speaker; and April 1, Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose, with Pastor Bill Salmon, speaker.
The public is invited to attend these ecumenical services throughout the Lenten season. For those who cannot attend, the meetings will be live-streamed on the Barton County Association of Churches Facebook Page.
During Lent, the Barton County Association of Churches will be taking a Widow’s Mite Collection to help the needy in our community. The need is great: The Food Bank served 500 people in January and Emergency Aid helped with rent/utilities and lodging/transportation for $7,120.81.
The following information as reported at the BCAC Leadership Luncheon on Jan. 7:
• Barton County Food Bank served 5,871 people in 2025, with $35,705.44 in Emergency Aid for rent and utilities, and $732.36 for homeless and transients. This total of $36,437.80 was the most ever for one year.
• BCAC hosted Laundry Love with the Knights of Columbus in January and will also host during its usual dates in March and August.
