Great Bend High School theater students recently announced, “We hate Shakespeare!”
At least that’s what the audience thinks until they get a rip-roaring rundown of Shakespeare’s classics in the fall play, “I Hate Shakespeare!,” by Steph DeFerie.
With zombies, talking cows, and an appearance by Jerry Springer, “I Hate Shakespeare!” is a hilarious and fast-paced introduction to Shakespeare – with a modern twist, according to drama instructor Holly Johnson. “Plus, someone gets a pie in the face.” This lively show humorously tackles why people may not fully appreciate the 16th-century playwright
Because the GBHS Panthers football team is in the playoffs, the drama department will not have a Friday performance as previously scheduled but they’ve added a second show on Sunday.
The play can be seen Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m., in the GBHS Auditorium. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door, with candy bouquets available for purchase at the door and during intermission. For more information contact Johnson at 620-793-1521.
