Multiple candidate filings have necessitated a scheduled primary for Ward 2 of the Great Bend City Council, noted the Barton County Clerk’s office.
The ward has a four-way race vying for the position occupied by Jolene Biggs, who is not seeking re-election. Stephen Patton, Suresh Bahadur-Maharjan, Charlie Dixon and Jay Luerman are seeking their first elected council seat.
The Ward 2 ballot is the only position scheduled for a primary in Barton County. Voter registration for the primary closes at the end of business on July 15; early voting begins on July 16 and ends at noon Aug. 4, the day before the primary on Aug. 5. Advance ballots by mail will be available beginning July 16 and must be returned to the Barton County Clerk’s Office by 7 p.m. on election day or if returning by mail, postmarked on or before election day.
Polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day only.
