LARNED — A Larned couple is dealing with the unfortunate aftermath of the loss of a lifetime of mementos as well as possessions after a fire at their home in Larned Monday afternoon.

Friends and neighbors are rallying around Rickie and Lisa Decoudres and their two dogs, as they locate to another residence in the community, Talk of a GoFundme account to provide needed personal items and food began Tuesday morning, as the couple met with insurance adjusters.

Monday afternoon

Larned firefighters responded en masse to a report of a structure fire at 722 Toles St. in Larned at approximately noon Monday, according to Larned Fire Chief T.J. Hearn. Upon arrival, crews encountered a large blaze burning in the detached garage behind the house, which had spread to the interior of the residence. A perimeter was established at a two block radius as equipment that included Larned’s newly-purchased municipal pumper was positioned on the street to the north.
