Community members are reaching out to support the recovery of Great Bend resident Dan Heath, who was badly injured in a vehicular accident last Friday in Denver, Colo. His wife Kim Heath and their son Quinton were also in the vehicle.
Family members confirmed that while returning to their hotel after a college visit on Nov. 14, their vehicle was struck from behind and pushed into a concrete median. Kim and Quinton were evaluated at the hospital and released with minor injuries. Dan, however, required surgery and has spent several days in the ICU. He remains hospitalized at this time, but his recovery is progressing well.
“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from our Great Bend and Panther family,” Kim Heath stated. “Right now, our focus is on Dan’s recovery, taking things one day at a time. While we are not able to respond to all the thoughtful messages, we sincerely appreciate every prayer and encouraging word sent Dan’s way.”
Dan Heath taught at Great Bend High School for 23 years before retiring in May. He is also a children’s entertainer, known for his shows as “Dan, Dan the Magic Man.” Kim teaches speech, forensics and debate coach at Great Bend High School.
A GoFundMe.com account to help pay for medical expenses was started at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-mr-and-mrs-heaths-recovery and more than $9,000 has been donated.
The GoFundMe post notes, “They do so much for their students, and now they need our help while they recover. Any amount you can donate will make a big difference.”
