Improvements to Great Bend’s Airport Industrial Complex Elevated Tower are necessary to address safety requirements identified in 2024 inspections. On Monday, the Great Bend City Council will be asked to approve a bid from Viking Coatings for $178,750. Utilities Director Darren Doonan will report.

The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 at City Hall, 1209 Williams St.,  and can also be viewed live on the City of Great Bend Facebook page.

Other items on the agenda are the purchase of a dump truck for the Utilities Department, approval of abatements, and authorizing the sale of a lot in the Amber Meadows subdivision. Jason Kuilan, director of Great Bend Economic Development, is scheduled to present his monthly report.

Required improvements to the Airport Industrial Complex Elevated Tower were outlined following the 2024 Public Water Supply inspections by the Environmental Protection Agency and Kansas Department of Health and Environment. A Request For Proposals was released and the City received three bids. Viking Coatings submitted the low bid.
