STAFFORD — Road Trip! We went to Salina to meet with our youngest daughter Jordan. She has had quite a week! She is the Deputy Director of Tourism for Kansas. The department hosted Good Morning America’s “50 States in 50 Weeks: America the Beautiful” at Kansas City where they did some of their broadcast. Most of the Kansas broadcast took place at the Kansas Speedway. It also featured a visit to Strataca, Kansas Underground Salt Museum and a 90-second video on other landmarks and highlights of Kansas.

The State of Kansas is working on the budget for nationally acclaimed “Sunflower Summer.” If your family enjoyed this program in the past, this is the time to contact your Kansas representative and let them know it needs to be adequately funded.

Larabee Library has a Kansas section in the Adult Collection that you might like to peruse. Part of the collection is by local authors like Bob & Frances Brownlee, Frank Randal, Kim Fritzemeier, Rose Holcomb, Lyn Fenwick and others. Spring is almost here. It’s time to check out some of the travel books the Penners have written and make family memories with a road trip. Maybe include a Library Crawl?

We are looking forward to a busy March. The first program is “Learning and Living Smart with AI,” given by Jennifer Gleason March 12 at 3 p.m. Reservations would help us know how many chairs to set up, but they are not required. Feel free to drop in and learn about this new technology affecting all our lives.

Our shredder box is being used and is full right now. On April 8 the truck will come to empty it. We are glad this free service for our patrons is being used. Feel free to come in with documents to put in the box after April 8.

Marcia Vasey Bauerle stopped by and I asked her if she would consider doing an art workshop. She said she has been working on Mandala Boxes and would love to share her technique. Not familiar with this type of art? I wasn’t, so I googled it and found it very beautiful. We will have a workshop with Marcia on Nov. 17 so put it on your calendar. It will be exciting!
