KDOT closes K-14 in Lyons due to sinkhole Wednesday
LYONS — Part of K-14 is temporarily closed due to a sudden sinkhole in Lyons.
The Kansas Department of Transportation released a closure notice Wednesday morning for the section of K-14 between the U.S. 56/K-96 junction in Lyons and the K-4 junction near Geneseo. The sinkhole itself is in Lyons between Second and Third Streets.
KDOT spokesperson Nick Gosnell said Wednesday afternoon that the state had been working with Lyons city crews to determine how long it would take to repair the sinkhole and reopen the highway. The latest estimate by city staff, Gosnell said, would be possibly by late Friday afternoon or Monday.
KDOT will provide more information as it becomes available.
