USD 428 invites families of new students to attend the Preschool and Kindergarten Pre-Enrollment Night from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, at the USD 428 District Education Center, 1809 24th St., Great Bend.

“Learning begins long before a child enters kindergarten,” said JoAnn Blevins, Director of Teaching & Learning for USD 428. “Our enrollment night is a great opportunity for families who are new to our district to explore USD 428’s Preschool and Kindergarten programs, meet educators, and complete pre-enrollment paperwork for the 2025-2026 school year.”

This come-and-go event will provide parents with direct access to USD 428 teachers and support staff, who will be available to answer questions and share insights about academic programs.

• Preschool programs in Great Bend welcome 3- and 4-year-old students, offering half-day instruction by certified teachers.

• Kindergarten is available at five neighborhood elementary schools for students who turn 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2025.

The Barton County Health Department will also be on-site, offering school-required vaccinations for students whose parents choose to take advantage of the service.

To streamline the pre-enrollment process, parents are encouraged to bring:

• Proof of their child’s name and age (birth certificate or baptismal certificate)

• Proof of address

• Immunization records

Families who complete pre-enrollment paperwork during the event will receive a special gift bag for their student.
