City Hall has a new exterior 2024
City Hall has a new exterior look.

City Administrator Logan Burns made the following announcements Monday in his report to the City Council.

• The new City Hall sign was finished last week. “Thank you to Roofmasters and Mark’s Custom Signs for getting that done. It was the ’80s the last time this building was touched,” he said.

• There will be a public hearing on solar regulations at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, in the Council Chambers at City Hall. “That’s where we’ll be discussing the changes that the City Council sent back to the Planning Commission,” Burns said. The document will come before the City Council for approval at the Dec. 16 meeting.

• The citywide cleanup was conducted Oct. 19-27. The cost for dumpsters was $3,788.58.

“Comparing this to last year, I think we were in the $40,000 range, but that was when we were taking in tires – so a big decrease,” Burns said. “This does not include any equipment or labor costs. We’ll be working on getting some of those numbers.”

• Director of Public Works Jason Cauley issued a press release regarding 10th and Frey. “There’s a sewer manhole on the southeast corner of that intersection that has settled, and we’ll be working on that next Thursday (Nov. 21).” Weather permitting, this project is expected to take two weeks.

• Potholes are popping up in full force with the recent rains. Cauley and his crews will be catching up on those.

• City offices will be closed next Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28-29. Nov. 30 is the Home for the Holidays Festival.

• Dec. 7 is the Great Bend Fire Department’s Holiday Extravaganza, starting at 5 p.m. at the Great Bend Events Center. This will be their social and charity event with a catered meal, beverages and the Colorado Keys Dueling Pianos. Tickets are $40 each and are available via the QR code found on the Great Bend Fire/EMS Facebook page.
