Recent surveys show the Grinch rivals Santa in popularity, at least when it comes to Christmas ornaments. When City Coordinator Christina Hayes said the Grinch at Great Bend’s Home for the Holidays Festival was an amazing hit, we didn’t have a chance to ask which Grinch she was talking about. Volunteers at the Trail of Lights booth assumed Hayes was talking about David Roat, who appeared as the Green One to the delight of everyone who passed through the gate. His photo made the front page of the Dec. 3 Tribune. However, Hayes said she was talking about Vic Link, who played the Grinch in the parade and “made hundreds of kids’ night” with his portrayal. “I’ve heard so many compliments about the Grinch. My phone blew up about how great the Grinch was.” When it comes to the Grinch, you can’t get too much of a good thing.
