The Great Bend City Council will be asked to approve an operating agreement between the City and the Sunflower Rod and Custom Association (SRCA) when the council meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 6, at City Hall. The meeting will also be live-streamed on the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gbcitycouncil/.
The council will also approve street closures for the Big Bend Bash, which includes a parade on May 30.
Roger Ward with the Bat Cats has asked to address the governing body.
Dry Lake Brewing has asked for a temporary extension of its premises for events on April 12 and 26 and May 9. All events will take place from 3-8 p.m.
The council will have two options for alcohol permissions during the 2026 Party in the Park on Aug. 8 in Veterans Memorial Park. The intent is to temporarily exempt the park from state and city alcohol restrictions. The council may approve alcohol consumption at the event from 9 a.m. to midnight by adopting an ordinance, or, approve the event and create a standing process that would allow the council to approve alcohol consumption for future events through resolutions.
A proposed lease renewal with TexPar Energy LLC is on the agenda. TexPar leases 3.8 acres at the Great Bend Municipal Airport Addition for the company’s petroleum storage and distribution operations.
Finally, the council will be asked to approve two supplemental Kansas Department of Transportation aviation grants for work on runways at the airport. Airport Manager Martin Miller will report.
