ST. JOHN — These are the unapproved minutes from the Stafford County Board of County Commissioner meeting.

The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met on Wednesday, Nov. 6, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Commissioner Wycoff called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Todd Wycoff, Jim Stanford, and Bryce Garner.

Mike Sanders presented a bid to the commissioners to replace the transfer switch on the larger of the two generators at the county shop. Discussion was held regarding the two generators that cover the shop buildings and the county radios. It was decided that the bill would be paid by the Road Department since that generator is for the primary use of the Road Department.

Commissioner Garner moved and Commissioner Stanford seconded to approve the Eck Electric bid in the amount of $2,670. Motion carried 3-0.

Marshal Sanders, Rural Fire, discussed changes that are being made for 2025 in the department. Each station will hold four training courses per year and Marshal will hold one large training course per year. Each firefighter will be required to attend six of the 12 monthly meetings and four training courses per year. It is also time to replace wildland gear which will only be done for active firefighters due to the expense of new gear.

Mike also discussed the situation with the storm sirens. They are outdated and the notification system is old technology. Mike will be having a representative come out on Nov. 20 to survey all of the sirens in the county and give recommendations regarding the best way to update to a better federal siren system.

Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to approve the minutes from the Oct. 30th meeting. Motion carried 3-0.

Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to approve a pay increase for Rosalba Valenzuela to $17.25 per hour. Motion carried 3-0.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
