STAFFORD — Activities have been a little slow this week due to the weather, but Sandy and I have been busy working on coming activities.
Sandy has been using her time to check books in the card catalog and make sure information and the picture of the cover is accurate. I am really proud of the job Sandy has persisted on. In the two-plus years of my employment and the year and half of Sandy’s, we have completely got every book into the electronic catalog. Those that were put in before our employment have been corrected as we found problems and Sandy’s next plan is to read the shelves (check to see books are in the proper place) and check the information for each book.
What does this mean for our patrons?
You can sit in your chair at home and choose books that you would like to read next. You can also see what we don’t have and can order for you either through inter-library loan (ILL) or purchase. When we get through it also means anyone can look up the shelf location and go to the shelf and the book will be there if the catalog has said it is available. Another benefit: books can be checked out by a quick scan and we have a more accurate idea who has what book and what is available to our patrons. It will never be perfect but hopefully closer to perfect. The website is https://www.librarycat.org/lib/NoraLarabeeLibrary
We are hoping for a great turnout Monday for the meeting with Economic Development on Stafford’s Daycare for our children. It is a countywide problem that Stafford Economic Development is working on. They have scheduled meetings in all three libraries in the county and would like input from anyone that has ideas on a solution for more and better daycare for our children.
