Update on 10th and McKinley signal improvements

Crews from the Phillips Southern Electric Company are switching traffic control at the U.S. 56 (10th Street) and McKinley intersection in phase two for signal improvements.

Starting Wednesday, July 16, the right eastbound lane of U.S. 56 will be closed with concrete barriers in place for safety. In addition, the right northbound lane of McKinley Street and a portion of the right southbound lane will also be closed to traffic south of the intersection. Those who frequently drive the roads should anticipate changes in traffic control as the project progresses.

In a news release issued Tuesday evening, Assistant City Engineer Hitha Kadlyala reminded motorists, “Please be careful and attentive when driving in these areas. We expect the work to take at least two months depending on the weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Crews will have signage and an arrow board for advanced warning. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to thank the citizens of Great Bend for their patience.”
