Two Quilts of Valor were presented to area veterans on April 25 at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Quilts were made by the Golden Plains Quilts of Valor group.

Harold Wondra

United States Navy veteran Harold Wondra was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on April 25, 2025 at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Wondra served from 1970 to 1972. The quilt top was made by Eileen Huslig; quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor. Pictured are, from left: Poncho Hitchmann, Harold Wondra, Judy Burnette and Dennis Palmer.

Steven Contrerez

United States Army veteran Steven Contrerez was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on April 25, 2025 at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend.
