Great Bend Police Chief Steve Haulmark released information on a Dec. 9 drug arrest and on a Dec. 12 aggravated assault/domestic violence arrest.
At approximately 2:16 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, officers with the Great Bend Police Department and deputies with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 300 block of Frey Street in an attempt to locate a wanted subject. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located John Lynch, age 48, who had outstanding warrants out of Barton, Stafford, and Kingman counties.
“Subsequent to Lynch’s arrest, a narcotics search warrant was granted for the residence,” Haulmark stated in a news release. “During the search of the residence, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were located. Lynch was booked into the Barton County Jail on the outstanding warrants as well as the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony interference with LEO (law enforcement officer).”
On Friday, Dec. 12, at approximately 4:45 p.m., GBPD officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Chestnut Street, in reference to a domestic disturbance. They contacted a female victim, who advised that Dale Herzberg, 59, had threatened her with a knife.
“With the assistance of the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, Herzberg was located at a residence just outside of the city limits of Great Bend. Herzberg was taken into custody and booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of aggravated assault domestic violence.”
