Great Bend man booked following high-speed chase

A Great Bend man was booked into Barton County Jail Wednesday evening following a high-speed vehicle chase that ended with the suspect on foot when he was apprehended.

Booked on charges of open container, flee & elude, interference with a law enforcement officer, criminal damage, attempted aggravated battery and driving under the influence was Steven A. Reed, of Great Bend.

Eyewitness reports at the scene noted that following a domestic dispute, Reed then took off as the subject of a high-speed chase. He was observed driving north onto 23rd Street from Polk when his vehicle stopped running and he exited the vehicle and ran.

Officers located the man, who was electronically stunned and taken into custody.

Bond was set at $40,000 cash or surety.
