KHP works multiple injury crashes

From Friday through Sunday, Oct. 18-20, Kansas Highway Patrol responded to four injury crashes in the Golden Belt.

The first two crashes occurred Friday at the U.S. 281/K-4 Junction in Barton County, 4 miles west of Hoisington.

At 9:04 a.m., a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Rodney B. Furrow, 65, of Ellinwood, and a 2021 Kia Rio driven by William K. Seldridge, 44, Hoisington, collided. Furrow had no apparent injuries. Selfridge reported being in pain and was taken to Clara Barton Medical Center in Hoisington with a possible injury. Both were wearing seat belts.

At 12:26 p.m. Friday, A 1997 Buick Lesabre driven by Janice Kay Miska, 83, Hoisington, stopped at a stop sign at U.S. 281 and K-4, then failed to yield and pulled out in front of a 2022 Mazda CX30 driven by Roxanna Marcela Anaya, 36, Hoisington. Both were taken to Clara Barton Medical Center; Miska with suspected serious injuries and Anaya with suspected minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.

On Saturday, two Great Bend residents were transported to Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned after two vehicles collided at 9:29 p.m. at the intersection of 90th Ave. and U.S. 56, 2 miles east of Larned in Pawnee County. Milton Herman Jr. 71, was southbound on 90th Ave. making a left turn onto US. 56 in a 2020 Ford Ranger. Marcos Piedra, 22, was westbound in a 2006 Ford F-150 and made an avoidance maneuver but was struck by the Ford Ranger. Herman sustained a suspected serious injury and Piedra’s injuries were believed to be minor. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

A Hutchinson teenager was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita on Sunday after a one-vehicle crash in Stafford County. KHP reports Izaiya D. M.. Davis, 16, received what were believed to be serious injuries. The crash occurred at 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 20 on U.S. 50, 0.6 miles west of northeast 20th Ave.

Davis was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion, heading west on U.S. 50, when for an unknown reason the car went left of center and left the roadway, striking two trees and overturning multiple times before it came to rest in the south ditch.

It was unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt.
