Two students at the Central Kansas Christian Academy in Great Bend have their art featured in the Youth Art Month Exhibit at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library.

Art instructor Miraya Starnes said students Sophia Strecker and Alejandro Carbajal were selected to represent Central Kansas Christian Academy. The exhibit celebrates Youth Art Month and features artwork from students throughout the state of Kansas.

The exhibit opened on Feb. 24 and will be on display through March 28. The library is located at 1515 SW 10th Ave, Topeka.

The Kansas Art Education Association will host a celebration/reception for student artists, their families, and educators on March 28 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the library. There will be time for guests to view the artwork, a guest speaker, recognition of students, activities, sale of YAM merchandise and light refreshments. The library will open at 9 a.m., YAM activities will be set up by 11 a.m. and the Awards Ceremony will begin around 1 p.m.

Youth Art Month is a project of the National Art Education Association. The 2025-2026 theme is “The World Needs Art.”
