Brett Dean Wells, 62, passed away Jan. 6, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. He was born April 21, 1962, in Ellinwood to Marion Dean and Carolyn (Isern) Wells.
Brett was a hard worker and started working for his grandfather at Wells Discount Furniture moving inventory at the young age of 14. After high school graduation and attending KU, he came back to work for his grandfather eventually owning and operating the business until 2009. In 2012, he opened Wells Sit and Sleep until his retirement in 2022. He married Donna Moos April 29, 1983, in Great Bend. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Brett had one great love in his life, Donna and their beautiful family. He was a God-fearing man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. A salesman through and through, Brett loved to make a deal. His passion for sports spanned from his time playing football, basketball, and running track to his love for the outdoors spent hunting, fishing, and golfing. He loved the Jayhawks and the Chiefs as well as the Ellinwood Eagles and Great Bend Panthers. His passion was evident as he followed his boys and grandkids in all their sporting events. On Wednesday nights, he could be found at his weekly card game with great friends; no doubt, listening to his tunes all the way.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Donna Wells; sons, Brandon Wells and his wife Megan from Great Bend, Bryce Wells and his wife Kaci of Great Bend; grandchildren, Taylor Wells, Crew Wells, Luxe Wells, and baby Wells to arrive in February; brothers, Scott Wells (Tammy) from Sterling, Mark Wells (Starla) from Hutchinson, Blake Wells (Christine) from Wichita; step brother, Bob Reiter (Linh); step sisters, Jackie Quick (Allen), and Barbara Reiter. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmom, Sue Wells.
