Deborah ‘Debbie’ Sue Postlehwaite

Deborah ‘Debbie’ Sue Postlethwaite, 75, passed away Oct. 7, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, in Hutchinson, Kan. She was born Nov. 29, 1949, in Great Bend, to William Chambers, Sr. and Jean (Turner) Ewing. She married Gerald Arlon ‘J.P.’ Postlethwaite June 3, 1972, in Great Bend.

Debbie was a Great Bend High School class of 1967 graduate. She worked for Aaron’s Repair as a secretary for many years before retirement. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She held membership at American Legion Post #180 Auxiliary. Debbie loved to watch game shows, with her favorite being The Wall or Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed reading and doing puzzles on her I-pad with her beloved cat, Bella, by her side. Her greatest accomplishment was the legacy she leaves behind, being her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 53 years, Gerald Arlon ‘J.P.’ Postlethwaite; mother, Jean Ewing; son, Joel Postlethwaite and his wife Jeri of Great Bend; daughter, Dena Popp and her husband Rick of Great Bend; brothers, Frank Chambers and his wife Alice, Bill Chambers of Wichita; step brother, Doug Ewing and his wife Jalayne of Ellinwood; step sisters, Sandy Parrett of Larned, Terri Sue Kohls and her husband Kent of Great Bend; grandchildren, Kelci Popp, Jace Postlethwaite, Brody Postlethwaite, Lance Popp and his wife Jessica, and Trey Popp; two great grandsons, Greyson and Ellis Popp; mother-in-law, Eleanora Postlethwaite of Great Bend; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by father, William Chambers, Sr.; stepfather, Robert Ewing; stepbrother Gary Ewing; niece, Jill Chambers; and father-in-law, Arlon Postlethwaite.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Jay Welshonse presiding. Burial will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be available from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, with family receiving guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to American Legion Post #180 or Grandchildren’s Education Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
