Doyle E. Wilson 1933 - 2024
MACKSVILLE — Doyle E. Wilson, age 91, passed away on Dec. 18, 2024 at Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt, Kan. He was born on Nov. 30, 1933 in Rural Stafford County Kansas, the son of Roy E. and Ethel Fannie (Neill) Wilson. The Wilson Ranch was established in 1928, and at the age of 5 he moved with his parents and sister from a farm northwest of Macksville to the farm southeast of Macksville where he lived up until his death. Doyle was always interested in cattle and farming and went into business with his father after he graduated from Macksville High School in 1951.
On Jan. 3, 1953, Doyle married Peggy June Aves in rural Macksville, Kan. She preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 2024.
Doyle was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association, Macksville High School Booster Club, USD 351 School Board, was the Centennial Parade Organizer, and was President of the Bernard and Hazel Neill Foundation. In 1979, he received the Kansas Bankers Award Soil Conservation 1979 and was a member of the Board of Directors at the Macksville State Bank for a number of years.
Survivors include four daughters, Denice (Allen) Bevan, Macksville, Kan., Sandra (Carey) McAllister, Macksville, Kan., Linda (Steve) Gotsche, Manhattan, Kan., Shari (Jeff) Parr, Macksville, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, Tessa Lickiss, Levi (Sara) McAllister, Logan (Kathryn) McAllister, Sheila Bevan, Adam (Kelsey) Gotsche, Cody Bevan, Ryan (Alex) Gotsche, Kelon (Abbie) Parr, Derek (Ashlee) Bevan, Keira (Dylan) Vogel, and Kreed Parr; 19 great grandchildren, Kaleb Lickiss, Lance Lickiss, Tanner McAllister, Lakyn McAllister, Kole McAllister, Tatum McAllister, Oakley Bevan, Taylin Bevan, Kesleigh Vogel, Collins Gotsche, Dakson Vogel, Caylee Bevan, Kane Parr, Kyler Gotsche, Makayla Bevan, Klay Parr, Kolter Vogel, Fallon Gotsche, Landry Bevan with #20 arriving in February. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy; a sister, Ethelmae Page; two brothers-in-law Edward Eugene “Gene” Aves and Leland Page; and a grandson-in-law Bradley Lickiss.
Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024 from 1-7 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with family present from 5-7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024 at the Macksville Christian Church, Macksville, Kan., with Pastor Jacob Russell and John Hamm presiding. Burial will follow in the Farmington Cemetery, Macksville, Kan. Memorials may be given to the USD 351 Education Foundation in care of Minnis Chapel, Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
