Gary Allen Hinson

Gary Allen Hinson, 87, passed away on April 16, 2025, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kan. He was born on Oct. 27, 1937, in Concordia, Kan., to Elbert and Helen (Strait) Hinson. On Nov. 23, 1958, he married Patricia “Pat” Blake in Delphos, Kan. She passed on July 9, 2023.

A resident of Great Bend, coming from Concordia, Kan. in 1974, Gary worked as a salesman for Bett’s Rainbo Baking Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend and the Moose Lodge in Concordia. Gary enjoyed watching westerns and Kansas City Chiefs football games, traveling, feeding birds, spending time at Veterans’ Memorial Park, and attending family events. He was a proud American, making sure to always fly his American flag. Gary cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include son, Greg (Alina) Hinson of Great Bend; daughter, Tammy Hinson of Great Bend; daughter-in-law, Michelle Hinson of Great Bend; five grandchildren, Samantha Hinson, Natalie McAnulla, Tyler (Jessi) Hinson, Janell (Matt) Simmons, Blake Hinson,; five great grandchildren, Jude Riggs, Abby Hinson, Kendall Simmons, Kate Simmons, and Allie Simmons; three sisters, Louise (Warren) Regnier of Concordia, Janie Hinson of Windsor, Colo., and Beth Maciejewski of Kansas City, Mo. He is preceded in death by his wife; son, Tony Hinson; his parents; brothers, Davey Hinson and Dean Hinson; daughter-in-law, Regina Hinson; brother-in-law, Mark Maciejewski; and sister-in-law, Diane Hinson.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2025, with family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Robert Selvakumar presiding. Inurnment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to the First United Methodist Church Women, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
