Gladys Mae Feist

Gladys Mae Feist, 86, passed away, April 29, 2025, at The University of Kansas Health System in Great Bend, Kan. She was born May 22, 1938, in WaKeeney, Kan. to Adam and Miriam (Deines) Deines. She married William “Bill” Feist Sept. 21, 1956, in Hastings, Neb. He passed away Feb. 22, 2011.

Gladys and Bill moved to the Great Bend from WaKeeney in 1963. She worked for Jefferson Elementary as a lunchroom monitor. Gladys loved to play bingo and cards; especially if she won! She enjoyed bowling league and traveling far and wide for bowling tournaments. Her family will tell you that she was an amazing cook! Above all, she loved the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They will miss her dearly!

Survivors include son, Rick Feist and his wife Bev of Ponca City, Okla.; daughters, Kim Dobratz and her husband Steve of Great Bend, Roxanne Mayers of Great Bend, Shelly Strube and her husband Kent of Garden City; grandchildren, Brittany Ringle (Mark), Ali Feist, Shaun Dobratz (Stacy), Matt Dobratz (Kaitlyn), Jason Mayers (Jayme), Janelle Riner (Derek), Jennifer Mayers (Eric), Tanner Strube (Caitlin); great grandchildren, Palmer Ringle, Reese Dobratz, Xander Dobratz, Lawson Dobratz, Laramie Dobratz, Samantha Mayers, Alexandra Mayers, Stevie Mayers, Charley Riner, Cruze Riner; sister, Rosetta Jamison; sister in law, Margie Deines; and loving caregiver, Magda Dolatshahi; and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; brothers, Deacon Deines, Donald Deines; son-in-law, Steve Mayers; sister-in-law, Delores Deines, and brother-in-law, Duane Jamison.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Miller presiding.  Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery north of Ellinwood, Kan. Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 4, with the family present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to Golden Belt Humane Society or Saints Peter and Paul Heritage Association, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
