Judith Ann ‘Judy’ Leighton, 79, passed away Aug. 20, 2025, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kan. She was born March 1, 1946, in Great Bend, Kan., to James and Julia (Veach) Neff. On Jan. 24, 1991, Judy married Michael “Mike” Leighton in Great Bend. He passed on July 2, 2016.

While Judy lived in multiple states throughout her life, she spent a significant amount of time as a Great Bend resident. She held different positions such as an office manager and paralegal for the court systems. Judy was a collector, especially collecting pottery and dachshund pieces, and loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Jason Hammer and wife Joan Hoffman of Great Bend; granddaughter, Megan Adams and husband Zach of Hutchinson; three great grandchildren, Waylon Adams, Hadley Adams, and Nevaeh Pedigo; sister, Peggy Bieberle and husband Floyd of Wichita; and numerous other loved ones. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Sam Neff and John Neff.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life services are pending. Memorials have been designated to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
