Kenneth Lyle Thompson

Kenneth Lyle Thompson, 85, passed away March 31, 2026, surrounded by family at his home in Great Bend, Kan. He was born on Feb. 20, 1941, in Liberal, Kan., to Uvon F. and Beatrice A. (Mog) Thompson. On Jan. 8, 1960, he married Constance J. ‘Connie’ Denney in Great Bend. She passed on March 4, 2019.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Kenneth worked as a line foreman for Midwest Energy, Inc. prior to his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed building furniture and wood working. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include son, Steven Thompson of Great Bend; daughter, Terri Fritz and husband Ken of Great Bend; seven grandchildren, Charley Fritz and wife Trista of Valley Center, Keith Fritz and wife Jenn of Derby, Kristy Ferguson of Great Bend, Misty Skinner of Great Bend, Douglas Ferguson and wife Jennifer of Radium, Julie Turner and husband Jarrett of Great Bend, and Chelsey Varela and husband Angel of Ingalls; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Dwayne Thompson of Folsom, Calif., and Mike Thompson and wife Jane of Morrisville, Mo.; three sisters, Sonja Conner of Rogersville, Mo., Sharon Vote and husband Joe of Bolivar, Mo., and Claudia Dietz and husband Bob of Springfield, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife; son, Allen Thompson; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Daryl Ferguson; his parents; brother-in-law, George Conner; and sister-in-law, Irene Thompson.

Private interment has taken place. Memorials have been designated to Dementia Society of America, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
