Leonard Lee Schroeder, 82, passed away May 22, 2025, surrounded by family at his home in Great Bend, Kansas. He was born on April 28, 1943, in Great Bend, to Edmond and Vernita (Harmon) Schroeder. On February 3, 2012, he married Tanya Schartz.
A lifetime resident of Great Bend, Leonard worked as a roofer for L.R. Parsons. He was a Boy Scout troop leader for many years. Leonard enjoyed fishing, building model airplanes, watching Green Bay Packers games, and was an avid KU basketball fan. He was a collector at heart – collecting Hot Wheels, coins, stamps, and sports cards. Above all, Leonard loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of the home; sons, Steve Schroeder of Great Bend, and Eppie Sandoval and husband Kyle Kovich of Kansas City, Kansas; daughter, April Hartey of Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren, Koby Schroeder, Kaden Schroeder, Keyven Schroeder, Kacie Schroeder, Bayli Schroeder, Sladen Schroeder, Justin Schroeder, Jarred Schroeder, Josh Schroeder, Brittany Manheim, and Brayden Hartey; great-grandchild, Ryan Schroeder; brother, Lester Schroeder of Great Bend; sisters, Lexiye Lyman of Texas and Nita Mae Welsh of LaCrosse; and numerous loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and son, Allen Schroeder.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Memorials have been designated to the Leonard Schroeder Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
