Lois ‘Marlene’ Waddle

ST JOHN — Lois ‘Marlene’ Waddle, age 90 passed away March 22, 2025 at Pratt Regional Medical Center, Pratt, Kan. She was born on Aug. 15, 1934 in St. John, Kan., the daughter of John Everett and Gladys (Waters) Sanders.

Marlene was a lifetime resident of St. John. She graduated from St. John High School in 1952. She worked as a Nurses Aid, the 1st United Methodist Church as their Secretary, was a receptionist for the St. John News, Four Star, and the Stafford County Health Department, and was a Homemaker.

She was member of the 1st United Methodist Church, UMW, EHU, The Weekenders Motorcycle Club, Red Hat Society, Rebekah Lodge #425, was on the administrative board for the Southwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging, and was a member of the Sunflower Senior Center where she helped distribute commodities.

On Sept. 14, 1952, she married Conrad “Connie” Waddle at Antrim Church. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 2017.

Survivors include two daughters, Debby Waddle, St. John, Kan., Diane Edgett, Edmond, Kan.; a daughter-in-law Robin Waddle; a sister-in-law Edith Sanders; two nephews, Wade and Steve Sanders; a niece Brenda Brack; fie grandchildren, Shane (Karin) Woodard, Ryan (Leann) Woodard, Kyle Edgett, Ally Waddle, Macy (Beau) Tillman; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Connie; a son, Jeff D. Waddle; a brother Eldon Sanders; and a son-in-law Tom Edgett.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2025 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2025 at First United Methodist Church, St. John, Kan., with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. Burial will be in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, Kan. Memorials may be made payable to IOOF Lodge #539, the Sunflower Senior Center, or Second Chance Thrift Store in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
