OLATHE — Marilyn Ann Petty, 77, passed away Dec. 6, 2025, at Azria Health Olathe, Kan. She was born on Jan. 19, 1948, in Great Bend, Kan. to Arthur ‘Jack’ and Katherine (Hurdan) Bailey. On Nov. 28, 1986, Marilyn married Steven ‘Steve’ Petty at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
A recent resident of Olathe coming from Great Bend, Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper for USD 428 as well as Dr. Frazier prior to her retirement. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima, Altar Society, and Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed bowling, crafts, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; son, Brandon Petty and wife Megan of Olathe; grandchildren, Avery Petty and Cade Petty, both of Olathe; brothers, Rod Bailey and wife Martha of Simpsonville, S.C., Larry Bailey and wife Toni of Fisher, Texas, and Kevin Bailey and wife Aileen of Leavenworth; sisters, Alice Neidhart and husband Paul of Naperville, Ill., and Dianna Allison and husband Greg of Great Bend; sister-in-law, Jackie Bailey of Giddings, Texas; brother-in-law, Michael Petty of Crest Hill, Ill.; nephews, Nathan Bailey of Simpsonville, S.C., Brice Bailey of Ft. Collins, Colo., Chris Neidhart of Downers Grove, Ill., and Tyler Allison of Great Bend; nieces, Erin Baldree of Manhattan, Shala Flory of Ft. Collins, Colo., Mallory Perez of Great Bend, and Kim Petty of Vernon Hills, Ill.; and numerous other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tony Bailey and Donald Bailey; nephew, Mark Neidhart; and sister-in-law, Sharon Petty.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Amirtharajan Duraisamy presiding. Inurnment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, with Altar Society Rosary at 4 p.m., family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Vigil service with Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
